Good evening! Tonight we practiced /b/ and /p/ pronunciation and listening skills.
In Free Talking we discussed the origin of the “power button”, public holidays in NZ and Japan, what students spent their New Year money on as children, and spam mail.

2018.12.1 Saturday Pronunciation Master; Free Talking (F3)

Pronunciation Master 17:00~17:50 (5 students); Free Talking 18:00~18:50 (6 students); Free Talking 19:00~19:50 (7 students)

Hi everyone! In pronunciation class tonight we worked on /ck/ and /g/ phonemes, and tested each other’s ability to catch them correctly in sentences read aloud.
In F3 class tonight we discussed childhood games such as bull rush, knucklebones, and similar games and toys in Japan. We also “put on our tinfoil hats” to share conspiracy theories!

Today we discussed culture and collectivism versus individualism, and whether or not true individualism exists.

Today one of the students had an interesting question for the class; how can your express your thoughts in a more logical way? Each one of us took turns answering and sharing our views.

Business

8-10pm 7,5 students

Since we had a fairly large group today, I split you guys into two groups, one group arguing that it’s better to be poor and honest than rich and dishonest, and the other group arguing for the converse. We practiced how to organized your thoughts and express them in a logical and structured manner.

We read an article on the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse and talked about everyone`s favorite Disney characters.

We studied an article on resort hotels in Brazil and how to succeed at this type of business.

16:00 ~ 16:50 Business English (4 Students)

We studied an article on the problem of dog ownership in China and discussed the topic.

Today we read an article about how reading the news affects your intelligence. We went over difficult words and discussed the contents together as we read through.

2018.11.17 Saturday Pronunciation Master; Free Talking (F3)

Hi everyone! In pronunciation class tonight we read lists of similar and often mispronounced words to try and pick up on our weak spots. The hardest pairs seemed to be “brown / brawn” and “raw / law”.
In F3 class tonight we welcomed a trial student, and got to know him and introduced ourselves. A lot of good questions and answers in the group tonight. We talked about water polo, words that do not translate well, and how to describe our jobs in “two sentences”.

For the first howh of today’s business class, we read some articles and practiced summarizing and rephrasing them into your own words. For the second hour, we practiced rapid output by responding to random topics from bag as quickly as you can.
