日本語にすると同じ言葉でも夫々の意味する事が異なる場合があります。
My goal is to reach the target.
My objective is to reach the target.
上の２つの文を日本語で言うと、どちらも「私達の目標はその目的を達成する事です。」となりますが、goalやtargetは、「到達する方向、目標」を指しますが、objectiveは「努力して達成しなくてはいけない目的」を意味します。つまり、後者の方がよりシビアになります。
Could you tell us how you are going to achieve that objective? と尋ねられた時は、目標達成の為の具体的なビジネスプランについて尋ねられているので、明確な裏付けを持って答えないとビジネスの世界では評価されませんのでご注意を！
有名な経済学者ピータードラッカー氏の有名な言葉に”Objectives”に付いて書かれているのでご参考までに記しておきます。
”Objectives are not fate, they are direction. They are not commands; they are commitments. They do not determine the future; they are means to mobilize the resources and energies of the business for the making of the future.”

Today, we read the article titled “Catching a cold”
VELCOのスタッフや生徒さんの間でも風邪が流行っているようですが、皆さんお気を付け下さい。
Many people catch a cold in the springtime and /or fall. It makes us wonder... if scientists can send a man to the moon, why can’t they find a cure for the common cold.
確かに不思議な事です。「風邪の特効薬を発見したらノーベル賞ものですから」とある生徒さんがおっしゃってましたが、成るほどと思いますね～！
今日読んだ記事では風邪と薬と人間の体の機能について書かれていましたが、大変面白い内容で、最後に「そんなアホな！」という突っ込みを入れたくなる言葉で締めくくられてました。
There is a joke, however, on taking medicine when you have a cold.
It goes like this: If takes about 1 week to get over a cold if you don’t take medicine, but only 7 days to get over a cold if you take medicine.
クスッと笑われた方！ 「そんなアホな！」と突っ込みを入れられた方！ Why don’t you join us next week?
