Tonight in Pronunciation class we practiced the pronunciation of ordinal numbers, especially difficult ones like “twelfth”.

In Free Talking tonight we studied the rules to Monopoly Deal and then set out to play it – very competitively. It is a card game based on Monopoly and it plays much quicker than the board game version. We will hold a game night on the last week’s Free Talk of each month. I’ll keep regular attendees to my lesson informed as to what we will be playing next. Of course you can suggest games or bring your own, but please check with me first.

TOEICの授業は、1時間目はリーディングの本を使って問題をひたすら解き、2時間目はリーディング＆リスニングのテキストのPart６の問題を解きました！今日紹介した文法項目は「分詞・分詞構文」です！

1時間目のポイントは、「英語の文章構造」です。TOEICのPart6や7では骨のある、論理的な文章が出題されることもあります。そのときに頭に置いておくといいのは、PREP法といわれる文章構造です。これは、point→reason→example→pointと論を進めていく書き方で、よく使われる構造です。

最初と最後の文章は基本的には要点、その間に理由と具体例が書かれています。その段落の文章構造自体が、その要点が書かれている文章と同じ構造になっていることも多いので、要点をしっかりと押さえて読み進めていくことが正しい解釈のために必要になります。

2時間目の分詞・分詞構文は昨日の分のブログを確認してください！来週はPart６の今日の問題からレビュークイズを出題します！

SBの授業は、1時間目は過去完了形のアウトプットを中心に学習しました。
When S V (過去形）～、S had p.p. (過去分詞形）～.
I had never p.p. ~ until S V (過去形）～.

この二つを覚えて使えるようにしておいてくださいね！

2時間目は、get toのいろいろな意味を紹介しました！

In BF classes, we talked about holidays, and played “I doubt it” in English. I hope you had fun!

In the first class, we talked about what each student did in the last holiday and what they are going to do in the next holiday. Some of you guys are having hanami parties, and I’m so jealous!!

In the second class we played the game “I doubt it” in English, and discussed random topics like, “what is something that is popular now but annoys you?”

We ended up talking about so-called 歩きスマホ, which was pretty interesting because you guys all had different views toward 歩きスマホ, and because you guys do different things while walking!
I will be super careful not to bump into someone or something especially when I’m focused on the screen, and if I see one of you guys when I’m using the smartphone walking, I will immediately put everything into my pockets and pretend that I didn’t do anything while walking, lol

今日は文房具を英語で言ってみよう！ということでhighlighter,calculator,staplerなどと少し難しめだったかもしれないです😨

 

☆レッスン内容★テキスト編

二時間目は昨日同様in on atについての授業でした。

英語は基本的な使い方に加えてある特定の日の前はON!!のよう例外がたまに出てくるのでややこしいですよね。

Mind the gap between the door and the platform.はイギリスとアメリカで放送が変わると生徒さんから聞き興味深かったです。Mind の使い方忘れないでくださいね♪

2018.3.31 Saturday：Are you~？Do you~？と5W1H

本日は、3名の生徒さんが来て下さいました！

今日は全4回の内の4回目、疑問詞についての回でした。

まずはよく使うWhatを使った英訳練習。
What do you do？から、What kind of ～？、What time～？で始まる文を
いくつか練習しました。

次に、Which、Howと練習していきました。
特にHowは使い道が沢山あるので、1つ1つ覚えるのは大変かと思うのですが、
How is～？や、How was～？の文章は本当によく使えるので、ぜひ覚えておいてくださいね☺

さて、今日は私のVELCOでの最後のレッスンでした。
約2年間、私の不慣れなレッスンにもかかわらず、たくさんの方にご参加いただいて本当に感謝しています。
最後まで、レッスンをやるのを嫌がっていて笑、生徒さんが1人だったら大喜びしていたような私なのですが、この2年間で出会わせて頂いた沢山の生徒さんには、お一人お一人とても思い出があり、思い返せばあっという間だったなという感じです。
受け持っていたのがゼロレベルクラスだったということもあり、皆さんの成長されていく様子がとてもよく分かり、生徒さんの頑張りに励まされて、ここまでやってくることが出来ました。
自分の人生の中で、英語を誰かに教えるなんてことがあると思っていなかったので、本当に貴重な体験をVELCOではさせて頂きました。

レッスンで関わった方も、
レッスンでは直接お会いできていないですが受付で沢山お話をした方も、
体験レッスンに来られた際に色々とお話をさせて頂いた方も、
みなさん、本当にお世話になりました。
私もVELCOからは離れますが、英語を忘れてしまわないように、日々の生活の中で少しでも英語に触れていけたらと思っています。

こんにちは。

本日は町で見かけた雑誌を用いて会話の練習をいたしました。

最近、大阪にもかなりの数の外国籍の方々がいらっしゃいます。

多分多くは観光ですが、その中でもこちらで働いている人や住んでいる人も

もちろんいらっしゃいます。

神戸にいくとアジア人率は減って、白人率が増えるのかな、と思っています。

さて、そういった方々向けの雑誌でしょうが、　無料で配られているタウンマガジンのような

ものは結構あります。

実際、そういった雑誌やウェブサイトはかなりあるので

英語を学んでいる人にはぜひともチャレンジしてもらいたいのです。

英会話をうまくできるようになるためには

あたりまえですが

英語に親しむという行動が必要です。

つまりは、英語との距離を近くしないといけないわけですね。

行動派は人であれば、PCの設定をすべて英語表記にしてしまうとか

携帯の設定も英語、留守番電話機能も英語

と自分の生活に英語を取り入れます。

もちろん、バッグに入っている雑誌やスマホで読む記事も英語。

聞く音楽も英語だし、ラインでの会話もできるだけ英語

と、英語との距離を詰めれば詰めるほど英語に親しみをもって、

抵抗感がなくなります。

抵抗感があるから、多くの人は英語から遠ざかってしまうんです。

だから、この抵抗感をなくすための行動を心がけましょう。

せっかく英語に触れる時間を作っているので（velcoで）その時間だけではなくて

もうちょっとだけ英語との距離を近くする練習をこの春からでも始めてみましょう。

きっと数か月で効果が出てきます。

今日はhow to make getting out of bed easierという、
まさに私のために書かれたみたいな記事を読みました笑
こられていた生徒さんたちはそもそもすっきり目覚めてるみたいです…笑

量的には結構あったのでレッスン内でカバーできるか少し心配でしたが、
単語自体はそこまで難しい感じでもなく、みなさん優秀でしたので、
とってもスムーズに終わらせられました♪

来週のレビューテストで分詞と分詞構文の問題を出題予定なので、練習問題を解いて慣れておいてくださいね！分詞のポイントは、「どれだけ長くても一塊の名詞」だということ、分詞構文のポイントは「同時に起こっていること」です。難しい文法用語がついていますが、「同時に起こっているんだ」と考えて読むと分かりやすいかなと思います！

他にも今日出てきたPart 6の単語・表現も重要なので、忘れずに復習しておいてくださいね！

Hot 30°c (thirty degrees Celsius), Warm 24°c, Cool 18°c, Cold 9°c
すごく暑かったら boiling、すごく寒かったら freezing.
